Čarodějův odkaz/The Sorcerer's Legacy

Když mi loni před Vánoci přišel katalog knižních novinek z produkce Knižního klubu, na první pohled mě zaujal titul Čarodějův odkaz z pera Ondřeje S. Nečase. Stejně lákavě kniha vypadala i v knihkupectví, kde jsem u poličky prostála dobrou hodinu a uvažovala, jestli si ji mám koupit, nebo radši ne.

When the catalog of book novels from the Book Club's production came to me last year before Christmas, I was first attracted by the title of the Sorcerer's Reference from Ondrej S. Nečas. The book was just as appealing in the bookstore as I had a good hour at the shelf and wondered if I wanted to buy it, or rather not.
Tehdy jsem se rozhodla, že s nákupem ještě chvíli počkám a zkusím někomu podsunout nápad, aby mi ji dal pod stromeček. Plán se vydařil. Dárek jsem sice dostala trochu opožděně v průběhu ledna, ale hned jsem se pustila do čtení.

At that time I decided to wait with the purchase and wait for someone to push the idea to put it under the tree. The plan was successful. I got the gift a little late in January, but I started reading.

Podle anotace to mělo být fantasy (místy dokonce temné!) křížené s pohádkou. K tomu sice mám své výhrady, radši bych mluvila jen o pohádce, nebo spíš parodii na ni, ale budiž. Takovéhle fantasy jsem ještě nečetla.

According to annotation it should be fantasy (sometimes even dark!) Crossed with a fairy tale. If I have my reservations, I'd rather talk about a fairy tale, or rather a parody of it, but be there. I have not read such fantasies yet.

Starý čaroděj promění do lidské podoby trojici zvířat: kočku, drozda a rybu. Než jim stihne cokoli objasnit, umře a nesourodá skupina se musí postarat sama o sebe. Netrvá dlouho a ryba beze stopy zmizí. Všechno nasvědčuje tomu, že byla unesena. Touto chvílí příběh nabírá spád, drozd a kočka se vydávají na záchrannou výpravu, která sice trvá jen několik dní, nicméně je zavede do doupěte černokněžníka, mezi lapky i na královský dvůr.

The old wizard transforms into a human form a trio of animals: a cat, a straw and a fish. Before they can make it clear, the dying and unarmed group must take care of themselves. It does not last long and the fish disappears without a trace. Everything indicates she was kidnapped. This time the story picks up a gradient, the thrush and the cat go on a rescue mission that takes only a few days, but it takes them to the lair of the sorcerer, the lynx and the royal court.

Příběh má bezchybně vybroušenou strukturu, každé slovo v ději dokonale funguje a přesto se kniha čte neuvěřitelně lehce. Nehledě na to, že málokterý spisovatel v románu využije veškerý potenciál všech zmíněných informací. Nečas propojil dílo detailem, na který čtenář po několika stránkách zapomene, ale za dobrodružstvím udělá perfektní tečku.

The story has a flawless structure, every word in the story works perfectly, and yet the book reads incredibly easy. Notwithstanding the fact that few writers in the novel use the full potential of all this information. Neche has linked the work with a detail that the reader forgets for several pages but will make the perfect spot for the adventure.
